Abstract The Qulong porphyry copper deposit, tectonically situated in the Gandise metallogenic belt, has the largest amount of resources of its type in China. The characteristics and forming of the deposit are studied on the basis of the metallogenic setting. The metallogenesis is analyzed through the wallrock alteration and its relation to mineralization. The sources of ore-forming materials and diagenetic magma are clarified with study on the metallogenic fluid and stable isotopes. Based on the research, the ore-forming processes and metallogenic model is established.
